Piazza Armerina
Famous for the Villa Romana del Casale, a UNESCO heritage site with its extraordinary Roman mosaics among the best preserved in the world. A journey through ancient history among luxurious imperial villas and millenary works of art.

The Villa Romana del Casale
Piazza Armerina, in the rolling hills of central Sicily, is famous for the Villa Romana del Casale — a luxurious 4th-century Roman residence and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Buried by a medieval landslide and rediscovered in the 20th century, it preserves around 3,500 square metres of polychrome floor mosaics, among the finest and best-preserved in the Roman world.
Along the raised walkways you meet the celebrated scenes: the 'Great Hunt' corridor, mythological figures and the famous 'Bikini Girls' athletes. It makes a rewarding full-day trip from the apartment, ideally combined with the baroque old town of Piazza Armerina itself or a stop in the Enna countryside.
